The Centre for Sub-Saharan Transport Leadership (CSSTL) was birthed out of the industry desire to train the next generation of transport leaders in Africa with industry relevant skills in management, Leadership and Transport knowledge, able to communicate policy and complex decision into pragmatic and systematic actions for the development of infrastructure and services. As the premier Centre of Excellence, the Transport Sector Development Project (TSLDP) identified the needs under the Research for community Access Partnership (ReCAP).

The African continent is faced with a lot of challenges in the transport sector. These challenges hinder the free movement of goods and services across the continent. As a result, development in many parts of the continent have stagnated. It is believed that improvement in the transport sector will greatly contribute to development in the continent.
The MSc. Transport Management and Leadership programme is designed to develop students’ abilities to initiate and undertake research in the areas of transport policy, planning and management.
